About

INTRODUCTION

Established in 2005 by Jenny Reye, Dance Along provides a unique program to encourage children to explore music and dance, to learn to move to music and to sample the wide variety of dance styles and movements from around the world. Dance Along caters for children from babies through to pre-school years with weekly classes.

Our classes take little boys and girls on a wonderful adventure to a different part of their world each week. Children sample many different dance styles and cultures. Costumes, musical instruments, parachutes, balls, and many other fun hands-on props, together with an active imagination, help transport the DanceAlong dancer to a new and exciting dance and exercise experience. From hula dancing and treasure hunting to boot scooting; from the maracas and the Mexican hat dance to the beating drums of Africa; from fairies and elves in the garden to lions and elephants in the jungle; the world is an exciting place for a DanceAlong dancer. The DanceAlong program helps children to improve body awareness, motor skills and coordination, whilst fostering self-confidence and social skills.

WHY DANCE ALONG?

Young children need to exercise their bodies, minds, and spirits to grow and develop. Dancing is a form of exercise that combines thinking, feeling, and doing. DanceAlong recognises dance as an ideal activity for young children who naturally respond with movement to rhythm, music, and mood. For this reason, DanceAlong provides dance classes to young children with the aim of developing them physically, mentally, and socially.

EXERCISE WITH IMAGINATION !
EXERCISE WITH RHYTHM !!
EXERCISE WITH SOUL !!!

Learning through play!

A whole world of dancing adventures.

Every lesson is its own special imaginative and captivating adventure story. Kids love to join in the exciting adventure. DanceAlong is so much more than just another exercise program. Just as language is taught to a child using storytelling rather than just words devoid of context, DanceAlong seeks to teach creative movement and dance, not through the teaching of isolated movement ideas, but by truly capturing the child’s attention and imagination through a rich tapestry of movement, imagery and music following a story line. From the warm-up exercises to the dance sequences, from the rhythms and musicality exercises to the motor skills games with equipment, everything relates to the theme and the story being told. The music, the many and varied props and of course the children’s actions all come together to tell a story – to form a picture in the child’s mind with which to inspire the imagination, spirit, and physical development.

Children in early childhood learn best through pretend play. Dance Along is a vivid world full of make-believe play. From emus and kangaroos in the outback, to astronauts flying to the moon, all actions involve a spirited pretense play that evolves along a story line. The children just love joining in the group’s next adventure and the enthusiasm is infectious! Our classes are very multi-cultural with many traditional dances and instruments from around the world.
